Herniated Disc

Definition

A spinal disc whose tough outer layer has torn or bulged, so that the soft inner material presses outward, often onto a nearby nerve. That pressure can cause pain in the back or neck that may reach the arms, legs and extremities. Treatment often involves manual therapy, medication and sometimes surgery; IDD spinal decompression at Renner Integrative Manual Therapy in Springfield, MO, is a non-surgical option.
