Primal Reflex Release Technique
Definition
A manual therapy approach for evaluating and relieving musculoskeletal pain, pronounced "pert". It starts from the idea that the body’s protective reflexes (startle, withdrawal and the joint reflexes) can stay on high alert long after a painful or startling event, keeping painful patterns going. PRRT uses those reflexes to calm an over-response by the muscles, as in a muscle spasm. Chuck Renner is certified to teach PRRT and developed its online upper-extremity course.
